New to Sui? Start here.
Sui is a blockchain network. SUI (all caps) is its token, the coin you use to pay network fees. You don't need to understand the tech to use it safely. You just need these four habits.
Get a real wallet
Install Slush from slush.app. Type the address yourself. Never install from an ad or a link someone sent you.
Write your phrase on paper
Your recovery phrase is the wallet. Paper only, kept somewhere safe. Nobody legit will ever ask for it.
Learn the basics
Sui is the network, SUI is the token. Then gas fees, and what you are agreeing to when you tap "approve."
Start small
Send a tiny test amount before anything big. Nothing on Sui has a deadline, so there is no reason to rush.
1. Get a real wallet
A wallet is the app that holds the keys to your stuff on Sui. We use Slush, made by Mysten Labs, in our guides. Get it only from slush.app or the official list at sui.io/get-started. On your phone, follow the store link from slush.app instead of searching the app store.
2. Lock down your recovery phrase
Your recovery phrase (12 or 24 words) is your wallet. Write it on paper, in order, and keep it offline. No screenshots, no notes app, no email, no cloud. The only screen it should ever touch is the wallet app itself.
Nobody legit will ever ask for your recovery phrase. Not a wallet, not "support," not Sui Harbor.
3. Learn the basics
Sui vs SUI, what a gas fee is, and what happens when you hit "approve." Our guides explain one idea per picture.
4. Try it, small and slow
Sending somewhere new? Send a tiny test amount first and check it arrived. Anyone rushing you with a deadline is a red flag.
